Chiropractic Myths

Bend chiropractor Dr. David McClintock and the rest of the team at Falling Waters Injury and Health Management Center have offered quality chiropractic care in Bend, OR for years. Still, there are skeptics out there that question the validity and safety of chiropractic care. Our team is happy to answer all your questions and offer a look at the truth behind some of the most common myths about chiropractic care.

Myth: Chiropractors Only Treat Back Pain

Chiropractors can treat you from head to toe, and doctors may have a specialty area. Dr. McClintock has built his repertoire to include helping professional athletes, offering guidance with health and fitness goals, rock taping, and more. He’s able to treat patients of all ages through evidence-based practices.

Whether you have back pain, neck pain, headaches, an injury, joint pain, or something else, Dr. McClintock will work with you to help you find relief. He also works closely with in-house physical therapists and massage therapists to maximize results.

Myth: Chiropractors Aren’t Doctors

Chiropractic care requires rigorous medical education and training, along with board certification to practice legally. Dr. McClintock earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree through Life University in Georgia, furthered his knowledge through fitness and weight loss coaches in Thailand, and takes continuing education courses to stay up to date on the latest chiropractic methods and best treatment practices. This includes recently completing specialized training in the evaluation and management of concussions.

Myth: Chiropractic Is Effective Only if You Get Treated Regularly

It really depends on the injury or ailment, the severity of it, and a person’s unique needs. Some patients seek chiropractic care regularly because of how good it makes them feel, but we won’t push you to do so. Part of our mission to our patients is to educate them so they can achieve and maintain optimal health without having to rely on us.

Myth: Chiropractic Care is Dangerous

Chiropractic care is safer than most pills and surgeries geared towards pain relief. It doesn’t come with a host of side effects or health warnings, nor will you undergo long recovery periods. However, we will evaluate you and take in your health history for your safety and can provide referrals if chiropractic care isn’t the best treatment for your health needs.

Myth: Chiropractic Care is Expensive

Our chiropractic care is covered by many insurance carriers, including Pacific Source, Providence, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and MODA. Our support staff can check before your appointment to see if you’re covered. For those without insurance, we have affordable cash options.
